GEM and Giza Pyramids Tour

Schedule: Daily

Duration: Approximately 6–7 Hours

Pickup Time: 8:00 AM (Flexible timing upon request)

Tour Highlights

Unite the modern world’s greatest archaeological institution with the ancient world’s surviving Wonder on an exclusive private day tour. Your dedicated Ramasside Tours Egyptologist guide will meet you directly at your hotel lobby holding a personalized sign.

Begin your morning exploring the monumental grounds of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). Stroll through the landscaped exterior gardens, visit the world’s first suspended Hanging Obelisk, and step inside the monumental Grand Atrium to stand before the colossal 3,200-year-old statue of King Ramesses II. Explore the Grand Staircase, curated exhibition galleries, and retail areas before journeying to the nearby Giza Plateau. Spend the afternoon marveling at the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx, and the Valley Temple before returning comfortably in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel.

Detailed Itinerary

Morning Hotel Pickup & Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)

Your private Egyptologist guide and chauffeur will meet you at your hotel lobby in Cairo or Giza holding a Ramasside Tours sign. Settle into a modern, climate-controlled vehicle for the short transfer to the Grand Egyptian Museum complex, situated just two kilometers from the Giza Plateau.

  • Exterior Gardens & The Hanging Obelisk: Begin by viewing the revolutionary Hanging Obelisk courtyard, engineered to let visitors view the ancient royal cartouche carved on the underside of the obelisk's base. Walk through the palm-lined outer gardens and admire the museum’s translucent alabaster façade patterned with triangular motifs pointing toward the pyramids.
  • The Grand Atrium & Colossus of Ramesses II: Step inside the soaring 24-meter glass-and-stone atrium. Behold the monolithic 83-ton red-granite statue of Pharaoh Ramesses II, alongside the Victory Column of King Merneptah and Ptolemaic royal statues.
  • The Grand Staircase & Curated Galleries: Ascend the Grand Staircase—a chronological vertical gallery lined with over 60 monumental statues, royal sarcophagi, and architectural columns grouped into four thematic historical tiers: Royal Image, Divine Houses, Gods and Kings, and the Journey to the Afterlife.
  • Take time to explore the retail artisan boutiques and cafés in the commercial plaza for local refreshments and authentic Egyptian souvenirs.

The Giza Plateau: Great Pyramids, Sphinx & Valley Temple

Depart the museum and drive directly to the Giza Plateau to explore the Fourth Dynasty funerary complex:

  • The Great Pyramids: Stand before the colossal pyramids of Pharaohs Khufu (Cheops), Khafre (Chephren), and Menkaure (Mykerinos). Your private guide will explain the mathematical alignments, limestone casing techniques, and royal burial chambers of the ancient world's foremost engineering marvel.
  • Panoramic Viewpoint: Pause on the elevated desert ridge for panoramic views across all three pyramids aligned together, providing prime angles for photography.
  • The Valley Temple of Khafre: Walk inside the red granite temple where ancient priests performed sacred purification rituals and the mummification of the pharaoh prior to burial.
  • The Great Sphinx: Come face-to-face with the legendary 5,000-year-old limestone sculpture featuring the body of a lion and the head of a king, carved from the living bedrock as the eternal guardian of the necropolis.

Following your tour, your private driver will escort you comfortably back to your hotel in Cairo or Giza.
