Tour Details

The Ramasside tour guide will pick you up from your hotel to begin your tour in Alexandria. First, you will visit the inside of the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa, which are the largest Roman cemetery, consisting of three levels carved into the rock. Then, you will head to the Roman Amphitheater of Alexandria, with an exhibition of the sunken monuments of Alexandria that were discovered under the eastern harbor of Alexandria. You will also pass by Pompey’s Pillar and stop for a photo (it was built in honor of Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century).

The next stop is the Library of Alexandria, the largest library in the world, now with 8 million books. Visit its open courtyard, where you can see the statue of Alexander the Great and the statue of Ptolemy I, which was found underwater nearby.

You will visit the Sadat Museum and the Alexandria Impressions Museum.

Note: The Library of Alexandria is closed on all public holidays.

Then, the car will take you to visit St. Mark’s Church, the oldest church in Africa. During your tour, you will see the old city center and the local historic architecture, which features Baroque-style designs and Italian- and French-style properties.

Optional lunch at a modern seafood restaurant or at a famous traditional Alexandrian food place called Mohamed Ahmed’s. The Queen of Spain and many famous people visit it when they are in Alexandria.

You will also pass by Abbo Elabbas Mosque (photo stop), the most beautiful and largest mosque in the city, as well as the strangest sight outside it: an old amusement park where children play on very old rides and eat cotton candy.

Across from it is the Corniche and the old harbor, where you can see old fishing boats, men fishing, and traditional fishermen making nets. The photos taken here are amazing. Continue to see the exterior of Qaitbay Citadel, which was built on the same site as the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It is a spectacular castle and a great photo stop.

The car will then take you to the Montaza Gardens. On the way, you can make a quick 2-minute stop at King of Mango to get freshly squeezed juices from the Alexandria drive-through, as well as a photo stop at the Alexandria Unknown Soldier Memorial. The beautiful coastline and all the city views are along the route to Montaza Palace and Gardens, which are approximately 25 km away, including the old harbor of Alexandria, where we found 7,000 monuments underwater.

Once at Montaza Gardens, commonly known as the Garden of Love (where romantic couples and families go), you will visit the royal gardens of King Farouk (the last king in the history of Egypt) and see the royal palaces of Haramlek and Salamlek, as well as walk across the famous Montaza Bridge and reach Tea Palace Island and see the royal beaches of the queens.

On your way back, you will pass by the famous Stanley Bridge, the modern landmark of modern Alexandria, and then travel comfortably back to your hotel in Cairo.

Alexandria has so much to see, experience, eat, and shop, so if you have time and would like to add more to your itinerary, just let us know what interests you and we will arrange it for you at cost price, with no profit for us.
