Tour Details

Our Ramasside tour guide will pick you up from your hotel. Start the tour with the Library of Alexandria, the largest library in the world, now home to 8 million books. Visit its open courtyard, where you can see the statue of Alexander the Great and the statue of Ptolemy I, which was found underwater nearby. Our guide will explain the design of the library from the outside, and you will have the opportunity to make several photo stops.

Note: The Library of Alexandria is closed on Fridays and all public holidays. To enter the reading area, you will need to purchase an admission ticket.

Visit the Roman Amphitheatre of Alexandria, with its exhibition of sunken monuments from Alexandria discovered beneath the eastern harbor.

The car will then take you to St. Mark’s Church, the oldest church in Africa. After that, visit the historic center of Alexandria, where you can walk through the old city center. See the traditional markets, where everything is sold, including traditional Egyptian sweets and treats. The local architecture features Baroque-style designs and Italian- and French-style properties.

Optional lunch at a modern seafood restaurant or at a famous traditional Alexandrian restaurant called Mohamed Ahmed’s. The Queen of Spain and many famous people visit it when they come to Alexandria.

Optional: Take a break at a quality café or a traditional shisha café.

Continue your tour through the oldest market area in Mansheya and see the traditional women’s markets (Zan’et El Setat), with their very narrow streets. There is also the gold market, where people buy their wedding and engagement jewelry.

You will also pass by Abbo Elabbas Mosque (photo stop), the most beautiful and largest mosque in the city. Outside it, you will see a rather unusual sight: an old amusement park where children ride very old attractions and eat cotton candy.

Across from it is the Corniche and the old harbor, where you can see old fishing boats, fishermen at work, and traditional fishermen making nets. The photos taken here are amazing.

Continue to see the exterior of Qaitbay Citadel, which was built on the same site as the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It is a spectacular castle and a great photo stop.

The car will then take you to Montaza Gardens. On the way, you can make a quick 2-minute stop at King of Mango to get freshly squeezed juices from Alexandria’s drive-through, as well as make a photo stop at the Alexandria Unknown Soldier Memorial.

The beautiful coastline and city views are along the route to Montaza Palace and Gardens, which are approximately 25 km away, including the ancient harbor of Alexandria, where 7,000 monuments are found underwater.

Once at Montaza Gardens, commonly known as the Garden of Love (where romantic couples and families go), you will visit the royal gardens of King Farouk, the last king in Egypt’s history. You will see the royal palaces of Haramlek and Salamlek, walk across the famous Montaza Bridge, reach the Tea Palace Island, and see the royal beaches of the queens.

On your way back, you will pass by the famous Stanley Bridge, the modern landmark of Alexandria, and then travel comfortably back to your hotel in Alexandria.

Alexandria has so much to see, experience, eat, and shop for, so if you have time and would like to add more to your itinerary, just let us know what interests you and we will arrange it for you at cost price, with no profit for us.

Note: It is necessary to wear flat, closed, and very comfortable shoes during this tour. We are very flexible, so if anyone would like to change the itinerary slightly or add more sites, we can accommodate that.
