Tour Details
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo and travel to Alexandria. Begin your visit to Alexandria with the Library of Alexandria, the largest library in the world, which now holds 8 million books. Visit its outer courtyard where you can see the statue of Alexander the Great and the statue of Ptolemy I, which was discovered underwater nearby. Our guide will explain the design of the library from the outside, and you will have the opportunity to make a few photo stops.
Note: The Library of Alexandria is closed on Fridays and all public holidays. To access the reading area, you will need to purchase an entrance ticket.
Visit the Roman Amphitheater of Alexandria featuring the sunken monuments exhibition of Alexandria, which were discovered beneath Alexandria's Eastern Harbor.
Then, the car will take you to visit Saint Mark's Church, the oldest church in Africa. Afterwards, you will visit the historic center of Alexandria, where you can walk through the old city center. Observe the traditional markets, where everything is sold, including traditional Egyptian sweets and treats. The local architecture features Baroque-style designs alongside Italian and French architectural styles.
Optional: Optional lunch stop at a modern seafood restaurant or at a famous traditional Alexandrian food spot called Mohamed Ahmed. The Queen of Spain and many famous people visit it when they are in Alexandria.
Optional: Take a break at a high-quality cafe or a traditional shisha cafe.
Continue your tour passing through the oldest market area in Mansheya and observe the traditional women's markets (Zan'et El Setat) with very thin and narrow streets. There is also the Gold Market, where everyone buys their wedding and engagement jewelry.
You will also pass by Abbo Elabbas Mosque (photo stop), the largest and most beautiful mosque in the city, and see the most unique sight outside it: an old amusement park where children play on very vintage rides and eat cotton candy.
Opposite is the Corniche and the old harbor, where you can see old fishing boats, men fishing, and traditional fishermen making nets. The photos taken here are stunning. Afterwards, you will continue to view the exterior of Qaitbay Citadel, built on the exact site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It is a spectacular citadel, perfect for photos.
The car will then take you to the Montaza Gardens. On the way, you can make a quick 2-minute stop at the King of Mango to drink freshly squeezed Alexandrian juices and have a photo stop at Alexandria's Unknown Soldier Memorial. The beautiful coast and all city views are en route to the Montaza Palace and Gardens, located approximately 25 km away, including the old harbor of Alexandria where 7,000 underwater monuments were discovered.
Once at the Montaza Gardens, commonly known as the Garden of Love (where all romantic couples and families go), you will visit the royal gardens of King Farouk (the last king in Egyptian history) and see the royal palaces of Haramlek and Salamlek, walk across the famous Montaza Bridge to reach the Tea Palace Island, and see the royal beaches of the queens.
On your return journey, you will pass over the famous Stanley Bridge, the modern landmark of contemporary Alexandria, and then travel comfortably back to your hotel in Cairo.
Alexandria has so much to see, feel, eat, and buy, so if you have extra time and wish to add more to your itinerary, simply let us know and we will arrange it for you at cost price, with no profit for us.
Notes: You must wear flat, closed, and very comfortable shoes during this tour.
